Joseph F. Borriello, 94, died on Wednesday, December 13, 2017 at home. He was predeceased by his wife Evelyn M. (Charest) Borriello. Born in Meriden on November 20, 1923, he was the son of the late Victor R. and Mabel (Wass) Borriello and was a lifelong resident of Meriden. Mr. Borriello graduated from St. Rose School in 1938 and Meriden High School in 1942. He received his Bachelor’s Degree from the Teachers College of Connecticut, his Master’s Degree from Hillyer College and his Certificate of Advanced Graduate Studies from the University of Hartford. He was a combat veteran of World War II, having served in the U.S. Army and was the recipient of many awards. He was employed by the Meriden Board of Education from 1949 until 1989 and was the Principal of eight different Meriden Schools.
He is survived by his son, William Borriello and his wife Verna of Meriden, one daughter, JoAnne Picard and her husband Kenneth of Marlborough; four grandchildren, Wendy Stout, Neil Picard and Brandon and Natalie Borriello; three great-grandchildren, Brianna and Teagan Herdic and Eddie Stout and a sister, Nancy Taylor of Port St. Lucie, FL. He was predeceased by his brothers Victor and Edward.
The family would like to say thank you to Agnes Debra for his continued home care for the last three years and to the Franciscan Home Care and Hospice Care for making him comfortable until his passing.
