Mary Rose Antonucci Zolnik of Meriden passed away with her family beside her on Saturday, February 10, 2018, at MidState Hospital.
Born November 29, 1923, in a house in Wallingford, she was the daughter of the late Alessandro and Annina (DeNino) Antonucci of Wallingford who emigrated from Corfinio, Abruzzi, Italy. Mary was retired from The Meriden-Wallingford Hospital on Cook Avenue where she began as a Nurse’s Aide and later became the Medical Desk Secretary for the CCU Step-Down Unit all on 5-East. Mary loved working at the hospital, having parties and celebrations in her “rumpus” room, and enjoying her poodles. She took great pride in her work at the hospital, her little ranch home that was her castle, and working in her yard.
She is survived by her loving children, Lorinda Larson of Sandy Hook, CT, and Dr. Lawrence Zolnik and his wife Joyce of Pleasant Valley, NY; grandchildren Alex Larson (Kate Zanzucchi) of Branford, David Larson of New Britain, Jessica Larson of Sandy Hook, Anthony Zolnik of Cambridge, Mass., Dr. Christine Zolnik (Andreas Fehrle) of NYC, Leslie Zolnik (Michael Roberts) of Ithaca, NY¬, Michael Zolnik (fiancee Katherine McCarthy) of Poughkeepsie, NY, her great-grandchildren Peter Zanzucchi-Larson and Anina Zolnik-Roberts, her former son-in-law Thomas Larson, her former daughter-in-law Miriam Calvert Navarro, and her poodle, Julie 2, along with nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her brother Anthony Antonucci and sister Dorothy Muli.
Mary’s family would like to thank Apple Rehab for their compassionate care and love to her and to all of her family, the staff at Midstate who lovingly cared for her comfort, and her neighbors who were friendly, loving, and kind to her.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial to be held on Thursday, February 15, 2018, at 10 a.m. at our Lady Queen of Angels, Our Lady of Mount Carmel Campus at 109 Goodwill Avenue, Meriden. Everyone is asked to meet directly at the church. Burial will be in St. John’s Cemetery, Wallingford. Family and friends will be received at the John J.
