Caroline K. Ruggiero, 94, wife of seventy-one years to Julius Ruggiero, died on Thursday, January 18, 2018 at Midstate Medical Center after a brief illness. Born in Meriden on January 19, 1923, she was the daughter of the late John and Jennie (Avitable) Papallo. She was a lifelong Meriden Resident and attended Meriden Schools. She was a parishioner of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church. Caroline was a devoted mother and housewife. She enjoyed crocheting and making afghans.
She is survived by her daughter, Bonnie Cello and her husband Thomas of Meriden; a devoted son and caregiver, Dennis Ruggiero; two grandchildren, Todd Cello and his wife Carrie of Plainville and Brian Cello and his wife Wendy of Meriden; two great-grandchildren, Connor and Reese Cello; one sister, Helen Fontanella of Meriden and several nieces and nephews, including a special niece, Carol Fontanella. She was predeceased by two sisters, Rose Cotrona and Mary Carabetta and two brothers, Joseph and Nicholas Papallo.
The funeral will be held on Saturday, January 20, 2018 at 12 noon at the John J. Ferry & Sons Funeral Home, 88 East Main Street, Meriden. Burial will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery. Family and friends may call at the funeral home on Saturday morning prior to the service from 10 to 12 noon.
