Francis Xavier Nobert died peacefully in Newington last Thursday surrounded by his loved ones. He was born and raised in Meriden by his parents, Raoul and Clara, and attended college in Iowa, Massachusetts and New York. After serving in the U.S. Navy until 1957, he had a successful career with the CT Department of Transportation as Data Processing Chief. An early retirement in 1989 enabled him to thoroughly enjoy his love of travel, nature, high adventure and family for more than two decades.
He leaves behind his longtime love, Christine Johnson and her son Keith. He was predeceased by his sister Lorraine Havell. He is also survived by his sisters Delores Astramowicz and her husband Matt of Meriden, Justine LeMay and her husband Ed of New Hampshire and Dorothy Novalis and her husband Paul of Florida. He also leaves behind his five children, Terra Pelletier and her husband Marc of Middletown, Gayle Brill and her husband David of Middletown, Brian and his wife Mabel of Florida, Jennifer DeGumbia and her husband Jan of East Hampton, Julie Rodrigues of Middletown, and their mother Caroline (McMahon) Nobert of Meriden. His legacy carries on with his grandchildren Kyle, Ethan, James, Martin, Alayna, Casey, Nathan, and Jerri and their loving spouses, along with his five great grandchildren.
Family and friends are invited to attend a funeral service to be held on Wednesday, September 13, 2017 at 11 a.m. at the John J. Ferry & Sons Funeral Home, 88 East Main St., Meriden, CT 06450. Burial with military honors will follow in St. Laurent Cemetery. Friends and relatives may call at the funeral home on Tuesday, September 12, 2017 from 4 to 7 p.m. and prior to the service on Wednesday from 10 to 11 a.m.
