Jose Heriberto S. Cajigas, 78, rode out into the early morning sunrise on Friday, Sept. 1, 2017 to be with the Lord. An avid fisherman, gardener and Harley Davidson motorcycle rider, he is remembered as caring, giving and humble. Known for his love of his family and as a man who would not hesitate to help his fellow neighbor.
Jose was born in Aguada, P.R. on May 20, 1939 and was the son of the late Ricardo Cajigas and Antonia Sola. Jose resided in Meriden, CT. He is survived by his loving wife and best friend of over 50 years, Leonor “Blanca” V. Cajigas and by his three children; son Gerry Cajigas and partner, Heather O’Brien of Meriden, son Heriberto Cajigas and wife, Magaly Cajigas of New Haven and daughter Leonora C. Rodriguez and husband, Armando Rodriguez of West Haven.
After his retirement as a machine operator of 30 years, he enjoyed spending quality time with his beloved grandchildren; Alyssa Antonia and Gerry Jose Cajigas of Meriden and Alanna Margarita Cajigas of New Haven. He leaves behind his sister, Edith Agudo and brother Julio Cajigas, both of Aguada, P.R. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his sister Enid Ruiz Sola and brother Angel Ruiz Sola.
Family and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial to be held on Tuesday, Sept. 5, 2017 at 12 noon at St. Rose Church of Lima Church, 35 Center St., Meriden. Everyone is asked to meet directly at the church. Burial will be in Walnut Grove Cemetery. Calling hours at the John J. Ferry & Sons Funeral Home, 88 East Main St., Meriden will be on Monday, Sept. 4, 2017 from 3 to 7pm.
