Clara C. Forte, 99, wife of the late Elmer Forte passed away on August 25, 2017 at the Alzheimer’s Resource Center after a lengthy illness. Born in Citta Di Ariano Irpino Provincia Di Avellino, Italy on January 9, 1918, she was the daughter of the late Otone and Angela Ferraro Sasso. She resided in Meriden for most of her life. Clara came to the United States with her mother, her late brothers, Victor and Carl and her late sister, Mary in April of 1920. They joined their father who had been here for a year already. She was a parishioner of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church.
Clara is survived by her son, Emilio Robert Forte; four grandchildren, Raquel Forte, Reneé Garcia, Candace Schaff and Jennifer Silvernale; eight great-grandchildren, Bryson Hester, Alexis Hester, Cole Hester, Brooke Garcia, Madison Garcia, Brady Schaff, Noah Schaff and Hunter Silvernale; her sister, Laura Hayes and her brother, Frank Sasso. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews. Clara was predeceased by her daughter, Christine Korten, her brothers, Victor Sasso and Carl Sasso; her sisters, Mary Barker, Amelia Marcantonio, Rose Sasso and Edith Horton.
Friends and relatives are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial to be held on Friday, September 1st at 10:30 a.m. at Our Lady Queen of Angels Parish, Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church, 109 Goodwill Avenue, Meriden, CT 06450. Burial will follow in Sacred Heart Cemetery. Everyone is asked to meet directly at church. There are no calling hours. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the John J. Ferry & Sons Funeral Home, 88 E. Main St., Meriden, CT 06450.
