Laurie J. Boyce, 56 of Middletown, beloved wife of the late Arnold Bonner, passed away peacefully on June 20, 2017, after a courageous battle with cancer. Born on October 12, 1960 in Middletown, she was the daughter of Jeanne Boyce and the late Edwin Boyce.
Laurie was employed with Hunters Ambulance Service for the past 15 years. She enjoyed spending time with family and friends, and enjoyed watching Judge Judy and People's Court. Laurie also loved basketball. She helped to establish the girls’ basketball program at Middletown High School and was the school’s first female basketball star. Laurie set a scoring record of 36 points in a game in her freshman year and went on to become the first 1,000 point scorer in Middletown High School history. In 2009, she was inducted into the Middletown Sports Hall of Fame.
Besides her mother, she is survived by her two sons, David A. Boyce and Jordon Bonner, and his fiancé Amanda Adorno; step-daughters Michelle Bonner, and Adrienne Bonner and her husband Anthony Wiggins; grandson Aiden Bonner; three step-grandchildren, Malik Bonner, Quiana Parker, Jasahn Wiggins; brother Craig Boyce and his wife Verna; sister Deborah Wexler and her husband Jacob; a niece Stephanie Boyce; and two nephews, Aaron and Ethan Boyce. Laurie was also predeceased by her brother Richard Boyce and her niece Brianne-Lynn Boyce.
Family and friends may call at the John J. Ferry & Sons Funeral Home, 88 East Main Street, Meriden, on Monday June 26th, from 3PM until 7PM. At Laurie’s request, a celebration of life, will be held on July 22nd. The time will be announced during calling hours.
