Mary K. Carabetta, 94, of Meriden, beloved wife of the late Robert J. Carabetta, died on Saturday March 11, 2017 at Apple Rehabilitation Coccomo peacefully in her sleep.
Born on September 15, 1922 in Long Island, NY, she was a lifelong resident of Meriden.
Mary was a telephone operator at SNET and later was employed at New Departure. She was the Head Chef at Platt H.S. as well as worked at The Farms Country Club in Wallingford before retiring from the State of CT Bureau of Support. Mary was an active parishioner at St. Joseph’s Church, she loved UCONN women’s basketball, the beach and cooking.
She is survived by her two children, daughter Nancy Wight (Robert) and son Michael Carabetta (Cathryn); four grandchildren, Michael (Ana) Wight, Moira (Chris) Ljungquist, Alison (Steven) Gerten and Elle (David) Brick; two great grandchildren, Emily Wight and Ryland Gerten. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews and close cousins. She was predeceased by her sister Josephine Dionne.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, March 16, 2017 at 11:00 a.m in St Joseph’s Church 22 Goodwill Ave. Meriden, CT with Rev. Gerry Dziedzic officiating. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, contributions in her memory may be made to a charity of one’s choice. The John J. Ferry & Sons Funeral Home, 88 E. Main St Meriden, CT 06450 have been entrusted with the arrangements.
