Adolph F. “Tripp” Petro Jr. of Meriden passed away on Thursday, March 2, 2017. He was the loving husband of Dorothy (Wojtunik) Petro for 55 years. Tripp was born in Waterbury on August 24, 1936, the son of the late Adolph and Jean (DeMaria) Petro. Tripp served in the U.S. Army from 1958 to 1960, he retired from Pratt and Whitney and again from Meriden Manufacturing. During his retirement years he enjoyed being a great Husband, Father and Grandfather. He was member of the Polish Legion of American Veterans (P.L.A.V.) since 1960 and St. Mary’s Men’s Club since 2013 where he enjoyed playing Setback. Tripp also played in the Meriden Amateur Softball Association (MASA) until the age of 68 and remained a regular at the softball fields to the present.
A loving Father he is survived by his beloved children, Laurie Lovely and husband John of San Tan Valley, AZ and Michael and his wife Anne and their two beloved children Michael Jr. (MJ) and Lucy and his newest four-legged granddaughter Zuzu of Schwenksville, PA, his sister-in-law Dolores Wojtunik, two brothers, Anthony Petro and Joseph Petro Sr. and his wife Mary. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his sister, Jean Mills and a brother, Francis Petro. He will be missed by many.
Family and friends are invited to attend a memorial service to celebrate Tripp’s life on Saturday March, 11th at 1 p.m. at the John J. Ferry & Sons Funeral Home, 88 E. Main St., Meriden, CT 06450. There are no calling hours and a burial with military honors will be private. In lieu of flowers contributions in Tripp’s memory may be made to a charity of one’s choice.
