James E. Gamble, 55,of Middletown, formerly of Meriden, husband and soulmate of Lorraine (Luca) Gamble, died peacefully on Monday, October 24, 2016 at Midstate Medical Center after a long illness. Born in Milford on August 13, 1961, he was the son of the late Henry H. Gamble and Ann Mino Gilbert and graduated from Platt Technical High School in Milford. Jim was the President and Co-owner of Coastal Inc. Plumbing and Heating in Milford, a family owned business which was passed down to him and his brother Jeff from their Dad. He was a past President of Meriden Kiwanis Club, a member of the Milford Elks, the AOH of Meriden and the North Italian Club in Meriden. Jim was a very magnanimous man. He touched many people’s lives and was loved by many. He was a real jokester and will be greatly missed.
Besides his wife Lorraine of the past twenty-four years, he is survived by three sons, James H. Gamble and his fiancé Kristina Koehler of Meriden, Robert Hillburn and his wife Evon of Plainville and Kevin Hillburn and his wife, Diane of Roseville, CA; two daughters, Kari-Lyn Dapp of Waterbury and Kelly Baldino and her husband Chuck of Naugatuck; eleven grandchildren, Jordan Gamble, Thomas and Tyler Dapp, Justin Gamble, Nina and Alana Baldino, Jason Chasse, Jessica and Jacob Hillburn and Nicholas and Stephanie Hillburn; three sisters, Anna Martone and her husband Anthony of East Haven, Patricia Ilioff and her husband Charles of Milford and Carol Feola of Milford; one brother, Jeffery Gamble and his wife Christine of Milford; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Evelyn and David Grossman of Middletown; two aunts, Rose Cipolla and Lillian Kapitancek; one uncle, Russell Gamble and many nieces and nephews. He is also survived by his close friend, Richard Scarpa of Ansonia. He was predeceased by a brother, Henry J. Gamble and a nephew, Marc Guastella
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial to be held on Friday, October 28, 2016 at 10 am at St. Pius Church, 310 Westfield Street, Middletown. Everyone is asked to meet directly at the church. Entombment will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery. Family and friends may call at the John J. Ferry & Sons Funeral Home, 88 East Main Street, Meriden on Thursday, October 27th from 4 to 7 pm. Should friends desire, contributions in his memory may be made to a charity of one’s choice. Jim’s family would like to thank family and friends for all their support and all the physicians, the nursing staff and Chaplin Doreen Batone, who cared for Jim throughout his illness.
