Thomas E. Scofield, 57, husband of Cheryl Zawacki Scofield, died Wednesday, October 19, 2016 at Ledgecrest Health Care in Berlin. Born in Meriden on September 18, 1959, he was the son of the late Jack W. and Lois (Melmer) Scofield.
Mr. Scofield had resided in S. Kensington, graduated from Orville H. Platt High School in Meriden and was employed by the State of CT, Dept. of Transportation, retiring on June 1, 2016. He was a veteran of peacetime having served with the U.S. Navy. He was a parishioner of St. Stanislaus Church in Meriden, a member of the American Legion Post 45 in Meriden transferring to Post 68 in Berlin, Full membership and Sons of the Legion, member of S.V.E.A in Kensington and Elks #597 in New Britain.
Besides his wife of 31 years, he is survived by his brother Jim F.Scofield, two nieces, a nephew and several cousins. He was predeceased by his brother John H. Scofield.
Family and friends are invited to attend a graveside service to be held on Friday, October 28, 2016 at 10:00 a.m. at Northford Cemetery, Spruce St., North Branford CT 06471. Everyone is asked to gather directly at the cemetery. There are no calling hours. The John J. Ferry & Sons Funeral Home, 88 E. Main St., Meriden is entrusted with the arrangements. In lieu of flowers, contributions in his memory may be made to the Friends of Berlin Animal Control, 278 New Britain Ave., Plainville, CT 06062.
